What is Sound Healing?

Sound Healing is…

  • frequency in the form of sound and vibration from instrumentation and the voice.

  • an ancient practice, and used globally by a diversity of cultures.

  • facilitated by a trained Sound Practitioner who assists in facilitating a state of meditation for the participant.

  • achieved by immersing the participant in sound frequency, hence the term Sound bath or Sound Immersion.

  • about providing and creating a safe, quiet space so that participants can be guided throughout this wonderful healing experience.

  • non-invasive and a form of meditation.

  • are soundwaves or frequencies that create vibrations which communicate and immerse, on a cellular level, the body to go into its individual natural healing process.

  • like everything in the universe, sound is energy that vibrates to its own unique frequency which includes our bodies.

  • aligns any misaligned cell vibrational frequencies that cause Illness and or Dis-ease using entrainment. Entrainment is the synchronization of aligning misaligned cells with vibrational frequencies that match and promote healthy cells of the body. This process allows for the body to repair and heal.

Are there benefits to Sound Healing?

Absolutely, there are many benefits from Sound Healing! Although experiences and results differ and are unique to each participant.

Some of the benefits are as follows…

  • Bringing balance to the mind and body to create homeostasis.

  • Promotes health and wellness holistically.

  • Communicates and checks in with the physical and energetic body to help balance our energy vortexes (Chakra’s.)

  • Assists with alleviating stress by relaxing the body and silencing mind chatter. Leaving room for improved focus and concentration.

  • Can improve stress-related challenges i.e. anxiety, depression, insomnia, and other types of sleep dysfunction, tension headaches, stress attributed muscle tightness, tension, and pain in the neck and shoulders.

  • Helps to stimulate mental awareness promoting a creative mind and increasing mental clarity.

  • Assists with the immune system.

  • Releases body chemicals made and harnessed by the body i.e. endorphins, oxytocin, and serotonin, which grately help with the healing process from the inside out.

  • Stress reduction.

  • Prepares the body using frequency, to receive much rest, relaxation, rejuvenation & restoration.

  • Activates the body to enter into the PSNS (parasympathetic nervous system'.) PSNS is also colloquially known as the ‘Rest and Digest state.’ PSNS instructs the appropriate body systems and their organs to relax; e.g. the respiratory system and the cardiovascular system slow down which reduces heart rate thus assisting in lowering blood pressure. PSNS also ignites the stimulation of the salivary glands known to produce enzymes that will efficiently help the digestion of food. - healthline.com

  • Encourages the advent of soundwaves produced by instrumentation, which encourages sleep and addresses sleep challenges. Sound bowls and other instrumentation can produce various soundwaves i.e. alpha, theta, delta, as well as binaural beats.

  • Assists in releasing endorphins, also known as the pain killer, for muscle tension and other pain issues

  • Seratonin stabilizes moods and sleep.

  • Dopamine, known as the reward chemical allows you to feel pleasure, satisfaction, and motivation.

  • Oxytocin, known as the love chemical, speaks for itself!

What does a Sound Healing Practitioner do?

Sound Healing Practitioner facilitates and guides you in…

  • breathwork **(practice differs with each facilitator, though the basis is the same to trigger the parasympathetic system & induce relaxation.)

  • provides a safe, secure, quiet place for your session. **NB: During sound immersion sessions, the sound practitioner is not responsible for any ambient sounds or sounds produced by attendees when receiving their healing, this includes but is not limited to; snoring, heavy breathing, and/or sounds that are external to the sound immersion session room i.e. chatter, loud music, planes, dog barking, etc.

  • introducing soundwaves that introduce brainwave states which help the body to induce a state of relaxation and thus create homeostasis naturally. These brainwave states can be produced via frequency entrainment from instrumentations such as quartz crystal bowls, gongs, etc. **At present We facilitate our sessions using crystal quartz singing bowls, Rainstick Dreams rainsticks©, & Koshi wind chimes©

  • provides a 60-minute sound bath session (40 to 45 minutes of actual sound immersion.)

  • develops and guides you in guided meditation/journeying sessions that also can be customised for you.

  • customises and develops a diversity of sessions that are unique to you so that you can be aligned with your health and wellness journey.

What should I do to prepare for a Sound Bath?

Consider the following for prep;

There are a few things that will help for preparation, but other than that, come as you are!

  • Sound bath sessions are unique not only for the participant but also to the practitioner who prepares them. Come with a receptive mind for your unique experience.

  • At group sessions especially, it is always a great practice to arrive at least 10 minutes early to your sound bath sessions. This gives you time to ground, subtract the anxiety of making it on time, and rid the stress of the day. Being prompt also allows the session to run on time for you and for others.

  • Hydrate throughout the day, before and after the session. This is important, your body requires water to facilitate healing.

  • Find a comfortable position that works for you and where you can relax.

  • Wear loose clothing and bring any accessories that will make you feel comfortable i.e. a pillow, and socks as heat are lost during deep meditation.

  • *A light blanket - sometimes body temperatures can drop when in a deepened relaxed state.

  • An eye mask, (wearing an eye mask promotes sensory deprivation, allowing for a more focused and deeper experience with sound)* a yoga mat, a pilates mat is thicker than a yoga mat and ideal for comfort, and any type of back support, oh and, crystals if you choose. If you do not have an eye mask, you can wear a hoodie! The hood is great for in achieving the latter!

  • For those sensitive to sound & volume, it is advised that attendees do not sit nearest to instruments, but instead find a comfortable position further away from the instrumental setup.

  • At the session expect to lie or sit for at least 50 minutes **time differs from practitioner to practitioner. You are not required to lie in one position for the whole duration of the session, find positions that work for you.

  • The experience you have at a sound bath session is a unique experience, meaning it is your own. What you experience may or may not be common to another participant. What you can take away from your experience is just that, your own experience. :)

  • Prior to or during your session, set an intention. Setting an intention for manifestation or release is excellent during sound healing sessions. You can talk to Us if you would like if you have further questions regarding this.

  • Before sessions, inform your practitioner of any concerns and/or challenges, whether mental or physical. That way we can be prepared to offer support when needed.

  • For sessions with animals, if your pet is reactive and aggressive pets please secure your pet during the session, for anxious and nervous pets, we like to allow them to find their comfortable place and after a while, they usually settle down after the first 5 to 10 minutes of hearing the sound bowls, all animals, like humans are different, and results may vary.

  • ** Please mute/disable mobile phone ring tones and vibration, or simply turn them off.**

    **PLEASE NOTE: Sound immersion is not recommended due to the following health concerns;

  • Women in their first to 8 - 12 weeks of pregnancy.

  • People who suffer from seizures i.e. epilepsy and/or sensory sensitivities.

  • People prone to blood coagulation challenges.

  • It is recommended that people with bone fractures wait for a period of 6 weeks or more prior to attending a sound bath. The recommended time of 6 weeks, plus, is so the bone fracture can heal (fuse) as much as possible.

  • If you are showing signs and symptoms of coughs and/or colds please do not attend.

  • Please be cautious when wearing hearing aids as some sound frequencies from instruments can cause hearing aids to distort and create additional external sounds, i.e. high pitched whining and buzzing, (feedback.)

  • Attendees must be 18 years and over, please. (Under the age of 18, customised sessions are offered and available upon request.)

  • Due to the unknown effects frequency may have on pacemakers i.e bowls etc, it is recommended that you consult a medical professional before attending any sound healing sessions.
